Regarding this revert]:

@Clarityfiend: Disctionarry say:

Character
  • 1.the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual
  • 2.a person in a novel, play, or movie.

Wikipedia says the same.: fictional character: "In fiction, a character is a person or being in a narrative"

So yes, characters may be people, and the lede phrase "Notable people with the surname include" is correct. --Altenmann >talk 02:31, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but commonly the term "people" is applicable to people "in a novel, play, or movie", and only when it is important to draw the distinction, we say "real people" vs. "fictional people". (Trump mentality is unique, so bets are still in place... I hope...) --Altenmann >talk 03:26, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
