Conflict of interest disclosure

I disclose a conflict of interest as the son of the subject, Giovanni Lucchi, and a contributor via the Fondazione Lucchi. My goal is to improve the article using reliable, verifiable sources and a neutral tone, with no promotional intent. I welcome review and discussion of any change. Edit request: sourced rewrite (COI)

As a declared conflict-of-interest contributor (son of the subject), I am not editing the article directly. I have prepared a fully sourced rewrite in my sandbox: User:Utenteattento/sandbox. It adds an {{Infobox person}}, inline references (allowing removal of the {{Unreferenced}} tag), aligns the facts with the Italian article (e.g. cause of death, teachers), and replaces the commercial Amazon link for the book with the freely downloadable Fondazione PDF (ISBN 9788890868337). The changes you've proposed show that you're on the right path, but there are still a few areas of concern: (1) the claim in the lead to be the founder of the first bow making school seems extreme. I find it hard to believe that in all recorded history, no bow making school or other such equivalent has existed in Italy; (2) the first section is unreferenced; and (3) the notable people mentioned in the pupils section need to have their H:WIKILINKs placed on the names. Ciao @Spintendo, I understand your point, but in the past the way of teaching this job was in the workshop, and in French there was a famous school in Mirecourt, but in Italy NO. The first one was opened by the local gov in Cremona because they already have the Violin making school and they want to connect also the teaching of making of the bows too. So in 1976 they asked to Giovanni Lucchi to teach in this new school and from that moment they start. But anyway, I just want to tell you that my writing was just to put a little order in the existing page, in fact and for the list of pupils, I do not add, and I think that some of them was appended by themselves during the years, because being a pupil of Lucchi is an important reference for a bow maker. But I am new in Wikipedia, so maybe I am doing big mistakes, and, please, excuse me. Ciao. Utenteattento (talk) 12:48, 7 July 2026 (UTC)

Thank you very much, @Spintendo, for taking the time to give such specific feedback. I have now revised the sandbox (User:Utenteattento/sandbox) to address all three points:

1. The "first school" claim. You were right that it was unsourced; it is now backed by two independent sources cited beside it. The Strad's obituary states that Lucchi "founded a school of bow making in Cremona in 1976", and the Archivio della Liuteria Cremonese (a reference archive of Cremonese violin and bow making) records that this was the "first Italian course for bow makers" ("primo corso italiano per archettai"), run by the vocational training centre of the Lombardy Region. That course was dedicated specifically to bow making — violin making in Cremona is taught at a separate institution, the Stradivari school — which is why it could be the first of its kind in Italy. The lead now reads that he "founded and taught the first school of bow making in Italy", with each part supported by its citation.
2. The unreferenced first section. The Background and Career sections are now referenced to that same source, so no section is left unreferenced.
3. The pupils. I removed the long unsourced list. In its place I kept only the individuals whose training under Lucchi is documented in reliable sources, written as sourced prose rather than a bare list: Andreas Grütter (his own site states he attended Lucchi's bow-making class in 1982) and Marco Maria Gastaldi (the Consorzio Liutai di Cremona states he trained in the Lombardy Region bow-making course taught by Lucchi and graduated in 1996). Neither has a standalone Wikipedia article, so I have not wikilinked them; please let me know if you would prefer them handled differently.
