Capitalisation of "Gigabyte"

[edit]

I'm writing this post because there have been not one, but several recent attempts to change the capitalisation of "Gigabyte" to "GIGABYTE" throughout the article. Such changes violate the Wikipedia Manual of Style, particularly the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Trademarks § General rules section. "Gigabyte" is not an acronym, hence it should not be capitalised in all upper-case, even if that's how the company officially spells their name. Another consideration is that a good majority of secondary sources, including the ones used in the article, say "Gigabyte" rather than "GIGABYTE". That is to say, how we spell trademark names also depends on how most sources write them sometimes. And in this case I don't see a lot of all-upper-case usages in sources.

Some examples of other company names that are officially in all upper-caps but referred to commonly in sentence case are Nvidia and Asus. — AP 499D25 (talk) 10:08, 17 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
