  • New enough and definitely long enough. The sourcing looks good, no copyvio issues. QPQ looks to be done. Hook fact checks out and is in article, as well as being interesting enough. Good to go. JTtheOG (talk) 04:31, 7 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hey, I will do this review at the weekend :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 14:43, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Review:

Hey, well done on this amazing article! It is so well-written and researched and it was so interesting to read - I learnt so much! Earwig shows no copyright violations and I see no major issues, so here are my comments:

  1. "he may have to stay with George's family" - Could you please clarify this? Does it mean that he will have to stay with them at the hospital?
Changed "stay" to "live" as that's the word used in the film. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  2. "According to NZTA's principal advisor Rachel Prince, the agency worked to identify a target audience for messaging that would reduce drink driving" - When did she say this?
I don't think it's quite necessary to specify, as the important part is that she was speaking from a leadership position. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  3. Is there any information on why Flavell-Hudson found the script over the top?
Flavell-Hudson himself didn't elaborate. I don't think further context is needed; it's a surreal comedy anti-drunk driving ad, so it's a bit strange in the fisrt place. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  4. "emphasising the characters" - Could you please reword this (e.g. "in order to emphasise the main characters")?
    Done
  5. "According to NZTA media manager Andy Knackstedt, it was the fastest-growing advertisement in New Zealand." - It would be great if you could add a year (e.g. "As of 2015") if a source confirms it?
    Done
  6. Could you please explain what "TVC of the Year" is?
Linked to Wiktionary entry for "TVC". (This is a case where I don't think the phrase should be written out in the prose, since it's the name of the award.) — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  7. There are a lot of "According to", which can be repetitive - could you please replace some of these (e.g. "xyz believed that...")?
    Done
  8. Is it possible to explain what "fantastical imagery" means?
The source simply uses the word "fantastical", so I think that's the best word to use. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  9. "These catchphrases became shorthand" - Could you please rephrase this for readers unfamiliar with this phrase?
    Done
  10. "in 2022, a group of high school students in Christchurch" - Could you please briefly explain why they did that? The source says that they did it to tackle drink driving
I think the word "for example" is enough to indicate that this was an example of anti-drunk driving messaging. (I can't think of a way to rephrase it that wouldn't be repetitive. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  11. Could you please write when the song "Ghost Chips" came out?
    Done.
  12. "Flavell-Hudson appeared at the 2019 New Zealand Media Awards, alongside the stars of other New Zealand advertisements such as Togs, Togs, Undies." - I am a bit confused by the relevance here - could you please briefly explain? Did he talk about the advertisement here?
Rephrased to remove the specific mention of "Togs, Togs, Undies" as this was merely one of several. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
  13. "Prince said that it was impossible to determine the campaign's direct impact, saying, "We're just one of the cogs in the machine."" - Could you please write when he said that?
    Done
  14. It is sad that Darcey-Ray Flavell-Hudson does not have an article! Hopefully someone will make one for him
  15. Are there any free images that could be added to the article?
I can't find any free images of Flavell-Hudson or of the director.
  16. Can you please archive the remaining sources?
The Internet Archive bot appears to be not working right now; I'll try to get it later. — Vigilant Cosmic Penguin 🐧 (talk | contribs) 00:04, 2 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Once these have been addressed, I will do a Source Spotcheck and pass the article :) Please let me know if you need any help at all or have any questions! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 07:21, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

"Drunk driving"

[edit]

One of my betes noires has been people "correcting" "drink driving" to "drunk driving" when it is about the UK. This is because the offence is called "drink driving" in the UK per sources such as the government and police. Knowing that Australian/NZ English usually skews closer to the British, I was surprised to see "drunk driving" nine times on this page, albeit never in a quote or a title.

On this page, "driving drunk" appears six times, mostly in titles and quotes. "Drink driving" appears twice, in titles of NZ sources.

I was just wondering, which is better out of "drunk driving" "driving drunk" or "drink driving". The NZ Transport agency uses "drink driving". Other NZ sources that say drink driving: NZ Herald, AA (22x drink driving, 2x drunk driving), Stuff. It looks like both in official uses and the vernacular, Kiwis say "drink driving". Here is a survey of NZ news sites to see which they use. Bing lists the number of results for queries so I've searched for example site:rnz.co.nz "drink driving".
RNZ:
  • "drink driving": 380,000 results
  • "drunk drivnig": 25 results
Stuff:
  • "drink driving": 577,000 results
  • "drunk driving": 19 results
1News:
  • "drink driving": 3,840 results
  • "drunk driving": 9 results
Clearly you're right, so I've just gone ahead and changed "drunk driving" to "drink driving". ―Panamitsu (talk) 21:33, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
