Genre trope → Genre convention – Ngrams as well as Google Scholar hits show that "genre convention(s)" is a far more common name than "genre trope(s)". Wolfdog (talk) 12:54, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Scholar and Ngrams would show that since the are based on books and other printed works. I would not want to argue for the rename on the basis of common usage as "trope" might in wider usage (already or in future), but I would argue that common usage of a word does not make it the best choice for writing or titling an encyclopedia article.
- This rename does sound like a good suggestion. It is sensible that an encyclopedia article use phrasing in keeping with commonly used standard English from books rather than using the more modern "trope" terminology that web forums or common slang might use. -- ~2026-37849-52 (talk) 22:16, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
