Probable spoof

For a lake of the reported size, I found nothing in research. There is a Genesee River, but no impoundments with that name. The first reference cites White Lake and is archived. Nothing found for a search of USGS. The second ref is the page in an obscure book. Google search returns, "There isn't a lake specifically named "Genesee Lake" in New York State. The Genesee River is a prominent feature of the Genesee Valley region, which is located in west-central New York and includes parts of the Finger Lakes region. The Genesee River flows through the region, and there are several lakes within the area, including the Mount Morris Dam Impoundment, Canadice Lake, Conesus Lake, Hemlock Lake, and Honeoye Lake, according to Genesee RiverWatch."

Genesee Lake is not referenced in Genesee County; the county only has 2.4 sq mi of water, but the article says the lake is 7.1 sq mi. Mgrē@sŏn (Talk) 16:18, 4 July 2025 (UTC)

I agree and also could not find any sources indicating to the presence of a lake with this name in New York. The reference provided from GNIS is for the Genesee River, not "Genesee Lake". Also, the coordinates included in the article are for a location in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo (located in Erie County) and not in Genesee County, as referred to as the location of the purported lake in the article.
