Active ingredient

The first sentence of the Background section includes the claim that "The active ingredient in magic mushrooms is psilocybin, ... " This is not supported by the cited source and inconsistent with Wikipedia's entry about psilocybin. Calling psilocybin an ingredient implies that FunGuyz are manufacturing whatever product they are selling, using some sort of recipe. Since psilocybin is produced naturally by the "magic mushrooms" as part of the normal growth of the fungi, it is not an ingredient, but is a naturally occuring chemical or substance already in the mushrooms before they are harvested. The mushrooms themselves would be an ingredient if they were used to make something else, but on their own they are a raw product that contains psilocybin naturally. Removing my accidental duplicate comment

Update physical-store status after November 2024

I am affiliated with FunGuyz and therefore have a conflict of interest regarding this article. I am requesting that an uninvolved editor review this proposed change rather than editing the article directly myself.

The article currently states that FunGuyz operated physical storefronts "until November 2024" and describes the company's November 2024 announcement that it would close its physical locations.

While the closure announcement was accurately reported at the time, subsequent independent reporting shows that FunGuyz physical storefronts operated after November 2024.

TorontoToday reported in December 2024 that a FunGuyz Queen Street West storefront remained operational after the announced closure date. In February 2025, TorontoToday subsequently reported that a new FunGuyz storefront had opened on Queen Street West despite the previous closure announcement.

I therefore suggest retaining the historical information concerning the November 2024 announcement while updating the article so it does not imply that physical FunGuyz operations permanently ended at that time.

Suggested wording:

"In November 2024, FunGuyz announced plans to close its physical locations and continue operating online. However, physical FunGuyz storefronts subsequently continued or resumed operations. In February 2025, TorontoToday reported that a new FunGuyz location had opened on Queen Street West in Toronto."

Thank you for the guidance. To clarify the requested change, here is the specific existing text and proposed replacement.

Text to replace:

“Until November 2024, the business operated physical storefronts, with at least 17 stores in Ontario and one in Quebec.”

Proposed replacement:

“In November 2024, FunGuyz announced plans to close its physical storefronts and continue operating online. However, physical storefronts subsequently continued or resumed operations. In February 2025, TorontoToday reported that FunGuyz had opened a new location on Queen Street West in Toronto.”

I also suggest removing the following sentence later in the same introductory paragraph to avoid repeating the November 2024 announcement:

“In November 2024, FunGuyz announced plans to close all of its physical stores but keep its online business open.”

TorontoToday reported on February 12, 2025 that FunGuyz had opened a new Queen Street West storefront after the November 2024 closure announcement. The article also reported that 18 active storefronts were then listed on the company's website.
