Can someone verify the 48% casualty fact that was in here before? Did 48% of all American combat casualties actually occur in the Civil War? -Prometheus

(An old discussion, I know.) 48% was wrong, but not that far off. Checking against the numbers at Remember.gov and our own United States casualties of war, both reveal 34%. If you use the KIAs (instead of the "total deaths"), its more like 28%. Only World War II was worse in terms of American casualties. --Mrwojo 02:15, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
