[edit]@Cdh1984: Why did you delete the official seal? 1) Who you are is completely irrelevant and 2) nobody is suggesting that the seal isn't the Governor's seal. M.Bitton (talk) 12:31, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
@Cdh1984: Why don't you engage in the discussion instead of edit warring? All you've done so far is make a claim about who are (as if that's important) and removed properly sourced content. M.Bitton (talk) 12:39, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
@Cdh1984: Since the coat of arms is an issue, I have now removed it and I don't expect it to be replaced with anything that isn't properly sourced. M.Bitton (talk) 12:45, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
References in header to FLN terorism?
[edit]I didn’t see any references to FLN terrorism in the header. It seems like an important aspect of the war of liberation that should be mentioned? 217.175.223.121 (talk) 07:47, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
The title is offensive
[edit]As an Algerian youth who is honored by the sacrifices of our ancestors I'm disgusted by the title used in this article, my ancestors fought for 132 years to keep the name ALGERIA alive, and the term used in this article was never used by the free people of Algeria that period is named The french colonization of ALGERIA (Colonized Algeria), and the term this article used was a part of the plans to brainwash the world into thinking the revolution was not real. BAHIA (talk) 15:05, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Bahia, if you want to discuss a name change the best process is WP:Requested moves. That said, the term is a simple adjectival shorthand that could be seen as a contraction of "french colonization of Algeria". I doubt it will make anyone think the revolution is not real. CMD (talk) 15:20, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, I understand your point and you have more experience with Wikipedia articles, but I still believe that the term isn't right the title should respect the idea of "a common adjectival way to describe the location during this period of history" because it makes sense, and should respect that there's no scenario where it's ok to use a term used by the colonization to describe a colony.
- So maybe Colonized Algeria (French colony) ? BAHIA (talk) 16:08, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Have you read our policy on WP:Article titles? I would suspect this one is unlikely to change based on its use and recognizability. What is important is the coverage in the article content, and there it does say Algeria was a colony and covers in some detail the many different resistance efforts that took place. CMD (talk) 16:50, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately it was called so that time. Why change it ? 196.127.128.130 (talk) 11:26, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
The today 's Algeria didn't came after French Algeria.
[edit]After French Algeria was disestablished, the successor wasn't Algeria, but a Provisional Government, which was also a "transitional" state, I think we should change that Algeria came after French Algeria, because it isn't true at all, the Provisional Government came after it. 2.245.45.135 (talk) 16:55, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
After French Algeria was disestablished
you mean after Algeria became independent. Needless to say that I disagree with you. M.Bitton (talk) 17:04, 18 January 2025 (UTC)- Admittedly, this is how the matter is treated on the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic page. On the other hand, the provisional government only existed as a government-in-exile, so I think treating it as the successor of the colonial regime (as if it had followed independence) would be misleading at best. Unexplained content removal
[edit]@Curiousperson2: care to explain why you insist on removing content without explanation? M.Bitton (talk) 03:36, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- it was part of France form 1848 to its indpednece rather than being a colony. This was done in the second republic, whose constitution established the fact. Ya happy now? Curiousperson2 (talk) 03:38, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- Is that supposed to explain the content removal? M.Bitton (talk) 03:39, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
- I'm still waiting for a valid explanation. M.Bitton (talk) 03:42, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
