Reasons for rejections of castings in the foundry

[edit]

The statement "In a sand casting foundry there are only two reasons for rejection of the casting — metal and sand" is a very narrow statement. There are other reasons which have nothing to do with either. A foundry can produce metal exactly in specification and sand exactly to specification and still produce scrap from many other problems.
