utilitarian device

As a classical guitarist, I can't help but point out that it is not just "furtniture." A foot stool is a prop or utilitarian device used by guitarists (typically classical or spanish). The rim around a barstool's legs, used for propping your feet upon, is similar to the second variety. I'm sure this deserves a mention if this article ever gets into the solid theory of why raising your legs feels nice.

Merging with "Ottoman (furniture"

I was just about to agree that the article should be merged but then, on a whim, I decided to check the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Footstool is defined as "a low stool used to support the feet", however ottoman is defined as "2 [...] a: an upholstered often overstuffed seat or couch usually without a back b: an overstuffed footstool". This signifies to me while a footstool is an ottoman, an ottoman, however, is not necessarily a footstool, and could be, for example, a back-less couch. -Transce080 (talk) 02:55, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
