Even as a nineteenth-century fake, it might be worth stating what is known of the provenance. The gift to the Shakespeare Memorial Trust was, I believe, by Sarah (1828-1908), wife of Charles Edward Flower (1830-1892). Edgar Flower (1833-1903) was his younger brother.
