Flask, a word which can mean bottle or container, originates in English from Late Latin, and has even older roots which could be either Latin, Germanic, or Celtic (see here and here).

• Flask (archaeology): small containers for liquids, known in ceramic and glass form from ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Rome, and Byzantium (see examples here, here and here)
