Finlaggan Gallic Translation

The Scots Gallic translations in this article are all problematic.

First of all if Finlaggan is "Port an Eilein" then Finlaggan Castle is going to be "Caisleán/Lios/Dún Phoirt an Eilein". It absolutely cannot be "Port an Eilein" too.

Second Finlaggan itself looks Gallic all on its own: Fin from "Fionn" (Fair/blond/white) and lagán, meaning hollow or valley. So the "Port an Eilein" translation looks even more suspect. Particularly given that Port Ellen is a separate location.

Given that both the Finlaggan Castle and Finlaggan articles are relatively short and that they both contain duplicated information, thus overlapping each other I would suggest that the two articles are merged. Finlaggan Castle was at the end of the day on Loch Finlaggan. I suggest that the castle has its own headed section within the Finlaggan article.QuintusPetillius (talk) 11:05, 24 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
