I feel that the recommendation of burning film to test the base should be removed. This is NOT safe, not to mention it is completely illegal... You can't burn nitrate film (in the United States, at least). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.151.150.1 (talk) 18:39, 24 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Laurier Palace fire in Montreal in 1927 had nothing at all to do with nitrate film stock. It was caused by a discarded cigarette which fell between the floorboards. aldiboronti (talk) 16:13, 3 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
