Pronunciation

- I'm not exactly gifted at writing how to pronounce stuff but it's "Feh"-"HOO"-"veh", which I think in the phonetic spelling would be "fexuve"? Spanish acronyms can sometimes be pronounced as words, which I'm pretty sure is the case here. --Grnrchst (talk) 17:28, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

Membership of 114,000 is inaccurate
[edit]According to Raul Zibechi, in his book Dispersing power: Social movements as anti-state forces (AK Press, 2010), the size of FEJUVE was about 750,000 in 2004: "By 2004, there were 540 local councils, for a population of about 750,000 inhabitants" (page 20).
FEJUVE is not a membership-based organization, in the sense of having officially registered members. The "membership" number 114,000 in 2008 underestimates the size of FEJUVE. This number was obtained because each neighborhood council must encompass a minimum of 200 families/households, and if there were 570 councils in 2008, then 570 times 200 is 114,000. But that is 114,000 families/households, not individuals. Also, it's assuming that each council only encompasses the minimum number of families/households.
Therefore, a more accurate estimate of FEJUVE's size comes from Zibechi. I recommend that the page be edited to remove "Membership: 114,000 (2008)" and replace it with "Size: 570 councils encompassing 750,000 people (2004)" ~2026-98103-3 (talk) 03:14, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
