Lady Brocklehurst crossed the Sahara by car in 1930

[edit]

Lady Brocklehurst drove across the Sahara in 1930 with her husband, so Eva Dickson isn't "the first woman to have crossed the Sahara by car". The source article says she shared the driving with at least two men so she wasn't the first woman to drive herself across the Sahara either. 2A00:23C4:6B1D:8501:EC03:15B1:13AB:1FC0 (talk) 12:05, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I was just coming here to challenge your unsourced change. Please provide a reference. I've identified Lady B as the wife of Philip Brocklehurst, whose article says that they "travelled in a car" across the Sahara but claims no record: that sentence is unsourced, but the way it is worded does not say that she was a woman driving.
The Swedish Biographical Dictionary of Women says " Eva Dickson and her friend went on safari and hunted, which involved shooting lions, buffalo and leopards. They were the first women to cross the Sahara by car, ...". Hmm, I suppose that doesn't actually say that they drove, either. PamD 14:37, 28 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
