Redirect is inappropriate
[edit]At this moment, "Energy gap" is a redirect to "band gap". This is not appropriate, as there are energy gaps in solid state physics that are not band gaps. Arguably the most prominent example of the latter is the energy gap in superconductors, which is a key aspect of any theoretical understanding of superconductivity. - This is now changed: there is an obvious link to band gap, which describes the case for an energy gap in the bandstructure, but I have also added a brief description for the superconducting case with links to wikipedia pages that describe the key aspects of superconductivity, in particular BCS theory which has the energy gap as a key feature. The references are popular classic textbooks.MScheffler (talk) 17:09, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
References to textbooks
[edit]On 18 February 2020 an IP removed references to two textbooks, without any comments why. I do not see any reason why these references should have been removed, and thus I will now give them again.--MScheffler (talk) 10:32, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
