I have just created this page, while I haven't got *great* references for it, *this is an actual practice* that is currently done by many US officers to honour the dead. I'd not heard of it before, so seemed like a good idea to make a page for it. If you do find some more references, please add. Been depecited on Elemetary, may be other shows, not sure.

I’ve recently gotten my ham radio license, and I’ve learned that this practice is also done in some ham radio communities. It seems that it’s sometimes referred to as a “final 73” or “silent key” ceremony. This last name come from the fact that the deceased ham is called a “silent key,” referring to the Morse code term for an operator that has left the air.
