Wasn't Waterberg in German South West Africa?

- Yes, thanks. I haven't been able to clarify Tamsen's loyalties. He was friendly with Paul Kruger and other Boers but seems to have been a soldier for the British at one point and to have been a member of the Royal Philatelic Society in London whose principal members included George V and Edward VII. Interesting article
[edit]....but what an odd and unenlightening choice of a DYK, given that this man bought the contents of the dead letter office!
