Elephant toothpaste
[edit]no, it isnt actually toothpaste for your elephant, thats just the name. elephant toothpaste is just a reaction caused by the decomposing of hydrogen peroxide, also when doing this experiment be careful, the fizz is hot. Abb615 (talk) 15:30, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Question
[edit]"About 50 ml of concentrated (>12%)[5] hydrogen peroxide is first mixed with liquid soap or dishwashing detergent. Then, a catalyst, often around 10 ml potassium iodide" How much foam will be produced from the amounts said in the wiki which i copy-pasted here? 77.75.244.130 (talk) 14:03, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
Safety Considerations
[edit]Hydrogen peroxide is corrosive and forms explosive mixtures upon contact with organic compounds. (Source: Wikipedia)
Potassium iodide has side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, rash, and swelling of the salivary glands. (Source: Wikipedia)
Please would someone knowledgeable about chemical safety add information about the handling of the ingredients and the safe disposal of the resulting foam ? Many thanks ! Darkman101 (talk) 00:47, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
Devil's toothpaste?
[edit]Can devil's toothpaste be added to this site or should I publish a new article about it @mark rober Globetrotter30 (talk) 11:40, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
Merge proposal
[edit]I propose merging Devil's toothpaste into Elephant's toothpaste. I think the content in Devil's toothpaste can easily be explained in the context of this article, and merging them would not cause any article-size or weighting problems. Also, they are the same thing, and it is just that Elephant's toothpaste is smaller than Devil's toothpaste. Globetrotter30 (talk) 11:59, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
