Pronunciation

[edit]

I have removed some notes on 'Pronunciation'. Within Ireland, there are a number of pronunciations of the name depending on dialect and locality, so it wasn't factual.

  • In [[Irish language|Irish]], ''th'' is pronounced like an English ''h'', so the correct Irish pronunciation is /'ɛhnʲə/ - hence the musician Eithne Ní Bhraonáin anglicising her name as [[Enya]]. However, the name is also used by non-Irish speakers, and is sometimes pronounced /'ɛθnə/.

I will try to put together a table of pronunciations as soon as possible. Filastin (talk) 14:29, 25 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
