¶ Maybe low importance to you, but Edwin Palmer was responsible for the Greek New Testament associated with the English Revised Version of 1881 -- and this is important because the crazies have spread the falsehood that the Revised Version was based on the Greek edition of Westcott & Hort (not true, altho several less memorable translations of the early 20th century were based on W&H). I have managed to (1) add the precise dates of birth and death, (2) add considerable detail to bibliographic description of Palmer's edition and its background. ¶ It occurs to me a bit belatedly that it seems very probable that Palmer & Ellicott worked up the booklet, The Revisers and the Greek Text of the NT, specifically to refute the canard that the Revised Version was an English translation of the Westcott & Hort Greek or that W&H somehow completely dominated and directed the NT translation. I might add that canard, like Frankenstein's monster, seems to go on and on without reason (with the additional accumulation of accusations that the W&H edition dominated the RSV, the NIV, the NKJV, etc. etc.) despite thousands of demonstrations to the contrary.
