Josh Lederberg gives Tatum's day of death as Nov 7 1975 in his biographical memoir of Tatum published by the National Academy of Sciences Fawcett5 16:53, 21 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

The obituary in The New York Times came out on Nov 7 1975, but states that Tatum had died that Wednesday, which was 11/5/1975. RockyJennifer (talk) 21:15, 22 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Recombination

[edit]

The link to bacterial recombination in the summary of his research goes to an article that discusses eukaryotic recombination. I think the Avery–MacLeod–McCarty experiment might be more more helpful. I do not know exactly what Tatum and colleagues did, but, from what I see, I think they did not work on eukaryotic recombination. AJim (talk) 00:57, 5 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Got it. Bacterial conjugation, 1946 Lederberg and Tatum. Going to fix the article.
