I'm moving the following extract from the article to the talk page because I would like to see a second source, e.g. an inquest report, to confirm. The newspaper article says: "A motor car driven by Mr Edgar Claxton of 23, Roy-road, Northwood, was turning out of the Pinner Road, when a collision occurred with a motor cycle owned and driven by Mr. Percy A. Knights, aged 19, of 108, Liverpool-road, Watford. Mr. Knights was thrown from his machine and happily landed on his feet, but his pillion passenger, Miss Beatrice Davis, aged 19, of 19 Copswood Road, Watford, was tossed into the air, landing on her neck. Both were taken to hospital, but Miss Davis was found to be dead upon arrival. The motor cycle was completely wrecked."[1] Edgar Claxton's father, Edgar "Ted" Claxton (1883–1971) was the registered householder at 23 Roy Road, Northwood, in 1928.[2]
In 1928, soon after Claxton's 18th birthday, a motor car driven by one Edgar Claxton of Roy Road, Northwood, was in a collision with a motorcycle in Northwood. The pillion rider of the motorcycle, 19-year-old Beatrice Davis, was killed, having been "tossed in the air, landing on her neck".[1]
Update: The inquest details have now been found. The above paragraph can now be updated as follows:
On 11 July 1928, soon after Claxton's 18th birthday, a motor car driven by Edgar Claxton of Roy Road, Northwood,[nb 1] who had "driven for a year, and previously driven a motor cycle",[3] was involved in a collision with a motor cycle in Northwood. The pillion rider of the motorcycle, 19-year-old Beatrice Davis, died.[1] At the inquest of 20 July 1928 it was found that the motor cyclist had been driving too fast, and that Edgar Claxton was "exonerated from all blame." The verdict was "accidental death."[3]
