I'm modifying this article to be in accordance with the information in the page on Echunga at the website of Flinders Ranges Research . Their information about the gold mining around Echunga contradicts the Sydney Morning Herald travel piece from which this article was initially derived. I doubt the SMH travel piece would have had much effort put into research. I'm more inclined to believe Flinders Ranges Research, since they are a business that makes money by researching, publishing, and consulting on South Australian history.
