world be nice if it said what specifically they changed or even just to what standard they are all now built. I don't see anything like that, just an exhaustive list of what models from which roads were "updated". How? New prime movers? New motors? Digital controls? Modern trucks? Burlington Northern GP10s

According to RR Picture Archives, Burlington Northern also had GP10s. That site says they were rebuilt in 1974–5 from locomotives inherited from the Great Northern, plus one from the CB&Q and two from Northern Pacific. So these don't seem to be part of the Illinois Central rebuild programme: at least, the article doesn't mention any rebuilding of locomotives from those railroads.
