It's an error to describe a kernel module as "POSIX compliant"; POSIX doesn't specify anything at the layer where eCryptFS operates. It only specifies the (userspace) standard C library and utility interfaces. 2001:470:8B2D:1E1C:21B:21FF:FEB8:D7B0 (talk) 23:40, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

https://web.archive.org/web/20201019181540/https://ubuntu.com/server/docs/security-ecryptfs is viable, and notes: eCryptfs is deprecated eCryptfs is deprecated and should not be used, instead the LUKS setup as defined by the Ubuntu installer is recommended.
