Real Ownership

[edit]

Which state Dzuko Valley belongs to? Manipur or Nagaland?? There is a confusion in our mind that whether Manipur is the real ownership of Dzuko Valley or not. Purna Oinam (talk) 04:56, 8 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I saw a couple of edit warring happening in the article regarding the ownership of the valley. To be noted, it is owned by both the states, Manipur & Nagaland. I have added enough reliable sources to verify the claim. I hope this will solve the problem. --Haoreima (talk) 08:11, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you make your claim by google map it's very. Google is just an imaginary line. After Dziikou is Long Kilometres streches That is Kezoltsa Forest which share boundary with Marram Khullen & Willong etc from Manipur side. So it's technically Wrong. Google India is introduced in 2007 & started in 2008 only & is still improving. Google is just an imaginary line. Sahovi Phinyo (talk) 18:40, 25 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@The Anonymous Earthling: Please discuss whatever you feel wrong at the talk page before reverting unexplained and undiscussed repeatedly. It's WP:vandalism. --Haoreima (talk) 16:35, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is RFC suitable?

[edit]

@Daniel Case: Sir! I am really afraid that that user (as he's temporarily blocked) will revert and remove the sourced contents again. To avoid such, may I start an RFC to bring consensus of multiple editors regarding the present format of the article? Additionally, please check if there's anything unsuitable or improper in the article! Thanks! --Haoreima (talk) 18:42, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

First: I wrote at the ANEW page that if TAE resumes such behavior after the block, that I would endorse another admin imposing a long partial block on them from the article (As I said, I would love to have the ability to layer a short sitewide block over a longer partial block, and a proposal I made for that at this year's Community Wishlist got a lot of support, but we can't do it yet so I have to choose one or the other).
As for bringing in outside editors, by all means do it. You may wish to consider the dispute resolution noticeboard or maybe start a discussion on the India noticeboard if you want informed contributions. Daniel Case (talk) 18:46, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Meitei name in lead

[edit]

@Daniel Case, Haoreima, Astra Travasso, The Anonymous Earthling, Materialscientist, Junosang, and LucasBrown: Tagging you all here since you have edited this article or similar articles in the past.

The valley's toponym derives from Angami and Mao Naga (see Dzüko Valley#Etymology), not the Meitei language. Per MOS:LEADLANG, a foreign-language name belongs in the lead only where the subject is closely associated with that language, or where the name is widely used in English sources for it. Neither condition appears to be met for the Meitei form Dzuko Tampak. Thus I'm proposing removal from the lead. For now I have no strong view on body text... that would depend on whether sourced Meitei usage can be shown (e.g. administrative usage on the Manipur side). However for this, I feel we will require proper reliable sources though, instead of regular news reports per WP:EXCEPTIONAL.

Also I feel the article should be moved from Dzükou Valley to Dzukou Valley since most sources seem to use that name instead. Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 20:41, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Per MOS:FOREIGNEQUIV, it should be removed as it isn't the name in the local language (nearby Dzukou Valley, Naga languages are predominantly spoken). For the article name, I mostly see it being written as 'Dzukou'. 1 2 Junosangleave a message 22:31, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I agree to both the points made by @Flyingphoenixchips. I have tried to implement them before but the Meitei or Naga nationalists have reverted them unable to see the light. The page needs major clean up including the new species discovered by a Meitei scientist which was later proven not be a new species at all. Astra Travasso (talk) 04:36, 24 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

July 2026

[edit]

@Flyingphoenixchips: The {{Page needed}} template is used when a specific page from a source (book or journal article, for instance) is required for verification of the citation. It is not used for requesting creation of new articles. I earlier removed the template where it was used incorrectly in this article, but you inserted several more (, ). I understand that you were (are) mistaken about the purpose of this template. Please remove from any other articles if you have added this template for uses apart from requesting page number in a specific source. UnpetitproleX (talk) 22:07, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Just to be clear, the purpose of the {{Page needed}} template is when you want to request the specific page number in a cited source. For example, if content in an article states

A is equal to B.[1]

where the citation does not specify the exact page number where the content "A is equal to B" can be verified, then add the {{Page needed}} template to request the exact page number in that specific cited book. This is the only intended use for the template. If you want to request creation of an article, usually red-linking (like this) alone is sufficient. UnpetitproleX (talk) 22:17, 9 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@UnpetitproleX Hey thanks, for the headup. I was unaware, and have removed them from wherever I added them. Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 18:43, 15 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
