[edit]The Oxygen graphics processing units were not designed by 3dlabs (until later products after 3dlabs bought the company.) Initially the chips used were variants of PixelVision architecture. The chip designs and the company founders and initial employees were spun out of Digital Equipment Corporation, where the first versions had been productized in VAX, MIPS, and Alpha workstations.
