I disagree that discrete systems and discrete-time systems are the same. The state of a discrete system can be described with discrete variables and its dynamics can be described in continuous time.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.83.93.222 (talk) 13:05, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

New Stub

Today, I created a new stub that ties discrete systems to mathematical models, finite state machines, and the theory of computation. As the unsigned comment above points out, discrete-time systems are mearly a convenience so that we have a way to model continuous systems using discrete elements.
