One of the founders dismissed

There is an interesting footnote in the thesis cite [1] on page 116 "24. Eventually the Chairman (Eric Lubbock MP, Chairman of Digico, 1969- 1983) had to dismiss one of the founders" after the statement "The two founders jointly controlled Digico, with thinly drawn boundaries between their areas of authority. As a consequence the company lacked strategic direction." However without further detail (eg which year) and in the context of a general discussion on Digico's business success, I don't think this should be mentioned.

I've not found online cites that discuss the business success other than superficially. In particular the article at least needs to state when the company closed down and the reasons. I suspect it may be related to the long standing chairman retiring(?) in 1983, or the success or not of the Digico Prince system launched 1982, but no cites found.

NB the wonderfully wacky advert on page 211 of PRACTICAL COMPUTING October 1982 would make a lovely image for the article once it is out of copyright! (A different less wacky one is on page 23 of PRACTICAL COMPUTING August 1981.) Rwendland (talk) 16:59, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
