It's unclear if Diffraction Efficiency is related to the polarization of the incoming light or the Dispersion over a range of wavelengths. This should be clarified. Srodrig (talk) 17:40, 22 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Modelling diffraction efficiency

[edit]

It seems relevant to add some discussion, or at least a list, for methods of calculating diffraction efficiency: e.g.: scalar approaches via the Fraunhofer diffraction equation, or more rigorous vector-based approaches (that take into account polarization), such as RCWA, or solving the Helmholtz equation for a periodic boundary numerically via the integral method.
