Split as proposed. BD2412 T 00:50, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

DiarraPage split? – This is more of a question than a suggestion, because I'm not sure which is the best way to tackle this. As the page stands, it includes some places as well as names, and I'm thinking maybe a separate DAB needs to be created listing the places and See alsos, with Diarra (the name) as primary topic. I have been adding Diarras, and there are LOTS! (Still not finished but taking a break now.) The problem with this is the same as we've been dealing with at Gaspar - I moved the minority geography items out of the largely anthroponymy list, and then immediately people complained why is that so. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 14:41, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Comment, as per Gaspar, I would be okay with making a Diarra name page if we can make a legitimate article with references and such. If not, then just keep everything at landing DAB.--Ortizesp (talk) 18:28, 1 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Joy and Ortizesp. As it stands now, it's actually a set index page, not a DAB page, so doesn't this mean that we need to either change this to be a DAB, or split it into DAB + name pages? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:02, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
I think they meant the same thing there, i.e. set indices and disambiguation pages are fundamentally the same as in being more navigation aids than referenced articles. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 09:51, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
p.s. I have just googled and found quite a bit on the origins of Diarra/Jara. Will come back to this. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:08, 2 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Having now done quite an extensive job on the list of names, I feel that this should definitely be split, and Diarra (disambiguation) created. Unless there's any objection in the next few days, I'll create this. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 00:37, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, now it seems fine to move the three relatively small villages out. The other thing has a different spelling, make Diara for that and link that in the hatnote. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 11:55, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Which other thing? The railway station? I think that's okay to just keep as a See also on the DAB, isn't it? Laterthanyouthink (talk) 01:50, 6 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
If there's a potential for people to search for Diara but end up at Diarra by mistake, then it should be in the hatnote. Thinking about this, I actually think it's the other way around - redirect Diara to Diara railway station and then make a hatnote there to point people to Diarra, because that seems like a more plausible navigation issue - that a reader forgets to type the second R, as opposed to accidentally adding one. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 09:00, 9 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
