Opioid?
[edit]Should dextrorphan be classified an opioid, with Ki's ranging from 420 to >1,000 nM? Or is this only formaly because of the "pseudomorphinan" skeleton?--84.163.97.230 18:07, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

- As far as I recall, opioids are drugs that act on opioid receptors, not simply chemicals that are related to morphine in structure. As dextrorphan doesn't seem to possess mu-opioid receptor activity, it's not an opioid.AlkaloidMan (talk) 10:02, 27 October 2010 (UTC)AlkaloidMan

Space Filling Model
[edit]So I noticed that the space filling model is wrong in one spot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Dextrorphan_3d.gif
At the top where the oxygen (red) comes off of one of the benzene ring carbons (grey). The model shows both a hydrogen (white) AND oxygen atom on the same carbon, there should be no hydrogen on that carbon.
I have no idea how to make make those models, but that caught my eye for whoever could fix it. Skier51907 (talk) 22:13, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
Inconsistent Molecular Structure Orientation
[edit]I'm not good with graphics or I would correct this. It's not so much a problem, but the molcular structures for DXO and DXM are oriented completely differently from one and another. This makes it very difficult for someone to see the structural similarities/differences. It would be nice if they could be oriented the same way. --Jmcclare (talk) 20:44, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Additionally, it would be nice if the structures were oriented similarly to morphine for likewise reasons. The DXO molecule is already oriented like the morphine molecule. --Jmcclare (talk) 23:31, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
pharmacological insignificance
[edit]I removed the following, which I'd tagged with "citation needed" because I think that it should have a citation.
"Dextrorphan's opioid, serotonin, and norepinephrine reuptake-inhibiting effects are pharmacologically insignificant.[citation needed]"
DXO? Simpler molecule structure more prevalent to name?
[edit]I typed "DXO" into chemicalize.org's embedded molecule rendered/drawing tool and got, not dextrorphan, but this:
