I increased the span of molecular weights of dextran. Drawing unclear

The drawing of dextran suggests that the glucose monomers are C7's insofar as vertices = carbon. The bit at the glycosidic bond is deceptive. So I am going to redraw it.--Smokefoot (talk) 00:52, 24 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Species that produce dextran?

Are the species in the article correct? Until yesterday, the article said: "Dextran is now produced from sucrose by certain lactic acid bacteria of the family lactobacillus. Species include Leuconostoc mesenteroides and Streptococcus mutans." This was in error because lactobacillus is a genus, not a family, and neither species mentioned is a member of that genus or the family to which it belongs. Assuming that the species are correct, I changed the article to read "of the order Lactobacillales." But perhaps the assumption that the species are correct is questionable, given the taxonomic error "family lactobacillus." Does anyone know if these species indeed produce dextran?
