Seemingly contradictory characteristics

[edit]

The article states:

"Compared to Rebound Ace, the surface upon which the Australian Open was played from 1988 until 2007, the ball slows down slightly less on the bounce and bounces slightly lower on DecoTurf."

These two characteristics -- 1) faster bounce, and 2) lower bounce -- seem incompatible with each other.

Of course, velocity and height of rebound both depend on the angle and velocity of impact; perhaps the two characteristics are referring to different kinds of impact? If someone knows more about this, I'd be curious to learn how a ball bounces faster yet lower.Daqu (talk) 16:13, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
