Possible response to Hoary's request for attributed critical reception

Hello.

I am the subject of this draft and therefore have a conflict of interest under WP:COI. For that reason I am deliberately not editing the draft directly.

I think Hoary's observation identifies a real weakness in the current version. The sentence stating that my books and illustrations "have been discussed in literary criticism and academic studies" is too general and does not indicate what those sources actually contribute.

After reviewing the references again, it seems that several of the independent secondary sources already cited contain substantial critical analysis of the work itself, rather than simply mentioning publications or awards. It may therefore be more useful to summarize those analyses briefly, with attribution, instead of making a general statement.

For ease of reference, these appear to be the sources that provide the most substantive discussion:

I am not suggesting that every one of these sources should necessarily be incorporated, nor that any specific wording should be adopted. I hope these references may assist editors in evaluating whether the cited sources provide the substantive independent coverage requested in the review comment.

If editors conclude that only some of these sources are appropriate, or that they should be summarized differently, I would completely defer to their editorial judgment.

Update following AfC review

Hello.

I am the subject of this draft and therefore have a conflict of interest under [[WP:COI]]. Following Hoary’s review comment, I have revised the draft to remove the general statement about literary criticism and instead summarize specific independent critical analyses with attribution.

The revised version now includes commentary from Lunetas and Quatro Cinco Um, describing how these reviewers have interpreted aspects of the visual language, materiality and graphic design of the work. I also corrected the wording of the BolognaRagazzi recognition to reflect the official designation of a Special Mention in the New Horizons category.

I have tried to improve the draft by relying on independent secondary sources and by reducing unsupported or overly promotional claims.

If further changes are considered appropriate, I will defer entirely to the judgment of independent editors.

  Does the literary criticism, do the academic studies, provide worthwhile insights into Kondo's work?
  If some do, then summarize them, of course specifying who says what (and where they say it).

Request for independent review of autobiography tag

Hello,

I am Daniel Kondo, the subject of this article and I have a conflict of interest under WP:COI. For that reason I'm not editing the article directly.

I would like to ask an uninvolved editor to review whether the

maintenance tag is still necessary in the article's current form.

The tag was addded in July 2026, while the article was still being developed. Since then, the text has been substantially revised, with greater reliance on independent secondary sources, attributed criticism, and academic discussion. The draft subsequently went through the Articles for Creation process and was accepted on 25 August 2026.

I understand that acceptance through AfC does not by itself resolve concerns about autobiographical editing, and I am not suggesting that the tag should be removed simply because the article was accepted.

My request is only that an independent editor review the article as it now stands, particularly its neutrality, balance, sourcing, and reliance on independent coverage, and decide whether the maintenance tag continues to be warranted.

I will leave that decision entirely to uninvolved editors.
