Knightfall

We do not have to wait for direct confirmation from Gunn or any other involved individual to add verifiable information to Wikipedia. You are always free to be WP:BOLD and add it in yourself. You know, I'm starting to think this isn't a DC Studios release and it was labeled as such by mistake. Mainly because the trailer features the DC Entertainment logo. BestDaysofMusic (talk) 18:37, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

It would be best to wait and see how the credits are, but it is interesting that it only refers to the company as "DC", which does not necessarily mean DC Entertainment or DC Studios. "DC" is DC Comics, they've gone like that for a few years now:

• "Daniel Cherry III, the senior vp and general manager of DC, has stepped down, multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter." (THR, 2022)

DC Entertainment has been a nonentity since 2018, following the departure of Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns, the last two known DC Entertainment execs, with no replacements ever announced. There's really only DC Studios and "DC" now, similar to how there's also really only Marvel Studios and "Marvel" now, too.

Additionally, Knightfall does not use the DC Studios logo and most sources now follow the press release and just say it's from "DC." The page for the movie on the Annecy website also does not mention DC Studios or DC, btw; it only mentions Warner Bros. Animation under Production.

DC is the comic company, they dont produce movies... DC Studios is responsible for every DC based production now, whether they put their logo on it or not. WB Animation is the animation company that actually does the work, but DC Studios supervises them. Spanneraol (talk) 02:27, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

DC is the comic company Exactly, and the press release and multiple sources say the film is from "DC," not DC Studios. If "DC" is the comic company, and Knightfall is from "DC," it can reasonably concluded that both "DC"s are one and the same. DC Studios is responsible for every DC based production now, whether they put their logo on it or not. They may be responsible for them, but that's not the same as producing them. For example, DC Studios was founded before My Adventures with Superman first premiered, and may have been responsible for it, but they didn't actually produce it until its third season. And DC Studios did not produce Suicide Squad Isekai, Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, or DC High Volume: Batman despite all three being DC-based productions. The three credit just "DC" and DC’s creative director of animation & audio content Mike Pallotta as the Executive in Charge of Production, Creative Director, and Executive Producer, respectively. If a project is not explicitly credited to DC Studios, then it cannot remain included in this article. While Gunn has said DC Studios will oversee every DC adaptation, this article only includes those actually produced directly by the studio. There have been similar discussions about this on this talk page in the past, and that precedent has not changed. Knightfall was initially included because we had a source saying it was a DC Studios production. Now that we have official press releases contradicting that claim, the article should logically be updated to reflect that. In light of this, I suggest we better wait until multiple reliable sources credit a production company as part of a project, not just one, as reliable as it is. And not just Knightfall, nor just DC Studios. BestDaysofMusic (talk) 20:27, 30 June 2026 (UTC)

We don't necessarily have to wait for anything to eventuate, but we also do not just st idly by if a source exists and verifies information. Only should said information turn out to be incorrect is when thing are rectified. We cannot guarantee that we will get everything correct all the time, as we can only reasonably go off of what is verifiable, not necessarily what is true. As has been deliberated many times before this, if a reliable source verifies a project is produced by DC Studios, we can add that to the article. Explanation:

I believe anything with the DC Studios logo (and generally, with the exception of The Penguin, the DC Studios opening) should be on this page. Anything without the DC Studios opening or logo, even if they have the new DC logo, should not be on this page. Projects like those were greenlit and began production outside of DC Studios. I believe this distinction matters, and it is important to point out that projects can take many years to finish production and even today there are still DC projects releasing that were not created or produced under DC Studios

*The DC Studios logo still exists in the credits of The Penguin and it was marketed as the first DC Studios production despite not having the DC Studios opening, with the exception justified with DC Studios being heavily involved in post-production.

**While Beast Boy: Lone Wolf and DC Metal Force credit Gunn and Safran as EPs, DC Studios is featured nowhere and one of these still clearly has the DC Entertainment logo, so they should be removed. Arguably, any of these projects could list Gunn and Safran as EPs if they so wished, and considering this behavior seems exclusive to the first couple months of DC Studios making a distinction of itself and its predecessor, I feel these credits don't mean much. This is a more controversial take, and I haven't removed them myself as I am unsure how people will feel about it.

***At the moment Harley Quinn S5 and Batman: Caped Crusader S2 are featured on this page, and I am unsure why. Again, I will not remove it myself as I will give people the chance to discuss and explain below, but from my perspective there is no reason why Harley Quinn and Caped Crusader should be on this page while Bat-Fam and Teen Titans Go should not.

†Like with Beast Boy: Lone Wolf and Batman: Knightfall (I'm sure there are other examples but these are what come to mind), it will sometimes be unclear according to outside sources which projects should be included under the umbrella of DC Studios as nobody outside of DC Studios necessarily knows which projects were greenlit when and how much influence DC Studios had over its production. In my opinion, the final decision should be made based on what is in the project itself and, before its release, what is most clearly featured in its marketing. I already discussed Lone Wolf, but to address Knightfall, the Annecy Animation Festival social media credited it as a DC Studios production, but the trailer and logo feature no DC Studios logo, so it is the most clear interpretation at this moment that DC Studios does not consider it a DC Studios release.

Final Thoughts

I have watched most of these projects, and as of today, with My Adventures With Superman S3 having the full DC Studios logo and opening with Caped Crusader not having any DC Studios logo, it has become clear that the distinction with animated series does in fact matter more than people seem to have made it seem before. I know there is a tendency to take animation less seriously from both production companies and the general public, and therefore articles list animated projects separately, inaccurately, and under less scrutiny. This has been the case for a very long time and I have personally witnessed it many times. I made this account specifically to push back on that a little bit. Glancing at previous posts, I've seen that things can get hostile in this talk page, and I ask you to not do so in the replies of this topic. This isn't about James Gunn, it's not about some arbitrary quality assurance stamp (I think Lone Wolf and Harley Quinn are great), it's about actually making this article in its current form as accurate as possible. The logo ''is'' the written source. When the credits of a project features "DC Studios," it's a DC Studios project. I feel that is uncontroversial. There need be no outside source when we're looking for credits information than the credits themselves. Yes, I am basing my research on the presence of a company logo, because it's the company itself informing us of what projects are from them or the previous administration. If you disagree with that interpretation, I would like to hear an alternate proposal because at the moment the projects in the animated series list are arbitrarily chosen. Everything included in this article is based on what reliable sources have verified. Basing any decision off of the logos and credits themselves and coming to ones own conclusion would be WP:SYNTHESIS, which is not allowed. There have been countless extensive discussions about what to include in this article that are archived at this talk page. Those may be viewed via the top of this page. Please refer back to those. We do not need to establish any "rules" given the prior consensus has already established the precedent that this article continues to follow and abide by.
