Question regarding to the awards

As this film is technically a VOD film (It distributed at Netflix) and wasn't showed in the theaters, it theoretically can't have a premiere in any film festival and also it can't receive an academy award nomination.

I'm guessing you must have figured it out by now, but what the heck.... As is stated in the article (Release), Crip Camp was supposed to be shown in theaters starting in March, 2020, but was debuted on Netflix because US COVID-19 pandemic restrictions closed theaters at the time. Also because of the pandemic, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences changed the eligibility criteria for that awards year. See the Academy's statement dated April 28, 2020, for the rules applicable to Crip Camp and similarly affected films. Ellemckay (talk) 02:21, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
