Editorial correction: Remove Mark David Chapman from "Notable alumni" list
[edit]I am requesting that an editor review and remove Mark David Chapman from the bulleted "Notable alumni" section of this article to maintain standard encyclopedic definitions and data structures.
This removal aligns with standard Wikipedia guidelines for alumni lists (WP:ALUMNI and WP:LISTBIO):Definition of Alumni: Per standard lexicographical definitions, an alumnus or alumna refers to a graduate or a former student who has completed a substantive course of study at a school, college, or university.
Verifiable Dropout Status: According to the biographical text on Wikipedia's own Mark David Chapman page, Chapman "fell behind in his studies... and dropped out of Covenant College after just one semester" in 1976. Because he was a short-term freshman dropout rather than a graduate or long-term attendee, categorizing him under a structured "alumni" index is factually imprecise.
Lack of Institutional Significance (WP:NLIST): Wikipedia policy dictates that entries on an alumni list must have a notable relationship to the school itself. Chapman's subsequent criminal notoriety occurred years later in New York and is entirely independent of his brief, four-month enrollment at the college.
Proposed Solution: To preserve accuracy without misrepresenting the college's alumni body, he should be removed from the bulleted "Notable alumni" list layout and added to a different section such as Controversies or a similar section.
