Okay, but "K"?

[edit]

I can't think of any words starting with "k" related to searching, since that's its main usage on most sites and even browsers. I wonder if anyone actually knows the reason for why "k" became the standard. Perhaps it could be for "kommand" (since "c" is for "copy" already), but I cannot run any command in my URL bar. In fact, it seems that it is only for searching, since after using CTRL_K you can't even put a URL in the bar, just a search on whatever engine you use. Some websites override the command anyway for their own local search tool.

So the general consensus is that CTRL_K means "search". What does the "k" itself mean though? What does it stand for? And why "k"; why not any other letter? But then too, why not "k"? I don't really know. I just was wondering why it is this way. Not arguing that it shouldn't be. It is fine as it is, I think. Perhaps it is better not to question the reason.
