Title

[edit]

I'm thinking maybe this should be "composite extension" instead of "composite (graphics)". —Darxus (talk) 06:26, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Given that this isn't about "graphics" in general, but is about the X11 Composite extension in particular, yes, it should. Guy Harris (talk) 17:59, 13 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Historical context

[edit]

This article could do with:

  • Mentioning when Wayland superseded Composite (i.e. when the main distros switched or when gnome/kde switched),
  • Explain what functionality Composite enabled that wasn’t readily achievable previously (transparent terminal windows, rounded window shapes, 3D transition effects, etc).
  • Convey some measure of how widespread the peak adoption of Composite was.
