Compatibility Mode/View

[edit]

I am assuming that compatibility mode is the same as compatibility view. I was wondering if someone can add a section to the article that would address my question. I appear to have 'compatibility view' problems on my laptop. I finally decided to see what the heck it was and found a link on my browser about it. Before I deleted the link (or maybe deactivate it?) I thought I would read up on here about it. I would like to know what will happen if I do indeed deactivate it. I have Vista and whatever the current IE is. This article reads like a commercial. In practice using compatibility modes is often a bad way to get an older software working properly, as in it will introduce all sorts of new problems. The article could use some depth. What we need: what do the compatibility modes do (a detailed description). What we have: what they're supposed to do (a few word commercial).
