Indian Scops Owl should probably not redirect to Collared Scops Owl. Indian Scops Owl is now Oriental Scops-Owl 'Otus sunia' Shyamal 09:21, 21 May 2004 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject class rating

[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 20:43, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Taxonomy change?

[edit]

The binomen of the Collared Scops Owl is Otus lettia. This article says that it is Otus bakkamoena. The latter binomen is used for the Indian Scops Owl. This seems to be a new change and will probably get sorted out when "WikiProjects Birds" moves to the IOC World Bird List, but I thought I should raise the flag now, just in case it's missed.

I did confirm the change from the following sources :

IOC World Bird List: http://www.worldbirdnames.org/n-owls.html
Birds of South Asia: The Ripley Guide, by Pamela C Rasmussen & John C Anderton

Yes, the split should have been the other way. Have done a manual swap of the contents of the two articles. Shyamal (talk) 16:35, 7 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
