B-Class Assessment (May 2025)
[edit]I have upgraded the *Cold Christmas* article from Stub to B-class due to its significant expansion and alignment with WikiProject Hertfordshire’s B-class criteria. The article now includes comprehensive sections on History, Geography, Infrastructure, Notable People, and Haunted Church and Folklore, covering the hamlet’s historical, geographical, and cultural aspects. It is fully referenced with reliable sources and consolidated citations. The prose is clear, neutral, and well-structured, supported by four relevant images. Minor gaps, such as population data, exist but are not critical for a small hamlet. Please provide feedback or suggest further improvements. ForayHistory (talk) 14:18, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Article sourcing and balance
[edit]Several aspects of the article appear to rely on speculative or folkloric interpretations rather than clearly verifiable historical or archaeological sources.
In particular:
- References to Saxon origins appear speculative and may require stronger sourcing or more cautious wording.
- Claims regarding population movement and the existence of a former village near the church do not appear to be supported by archaeological or documentary evidence.
- The length and detail devoted to ghost stories may give undue weight to folklore relative to the documented history of the site.
I propose tightening the language, removing or rewording unsourced speculation, and confining folklore to a brief, clearly labelled subsection, in line with WP:V, WP:UNDUE, and WP:FOLKLORE. ChristmasEdits (talk) 19:55, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
