Pronunciation

[edit]

Removed from the lead pending... Well, it just shouldn't be there.

(a) Wiki's wp:notadictionary;
(b) it's unsourced;
(c) it's wrong;
(d), to the extent that anyone pronounces it that way (they don't), we'd need to list all the sourced variants of pronunciation which would needlessly bloat the lead sentence.

What was given was /ˌklaɪtəmˈniːstrə/ but almost all native English speakers are going to read it as 1 /ˌklaɪtɪmˈnɛstrə/ (cf. also 2, 3, 4, &c. &c.) and even the proscriptivists (being proscriptive in this case over a mispronunciation of the Greek) don't agree: Merriam-Webster gives this /ˌklaɪtəmˈnɛstrə/. Leave it off or add it to the Wiktionary entry. — LlywelynII 14:02, 26 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
