What information comes from Weather Atlas?
[edit]Weather Atlas is cited as a reference for the 1981-2010 City Centre Airport table. What information in the table relies on it? I have checked the Weather Atlas page for Edmonton and it is full of errors. A lot of it reads like boiler plate and specific data is way off. Eg. it describes Edmonton's winters as damp with average January relative humidity of 91%. Ninety-one percent! Anyone who has enjoyed an Edmonton winter knows that it is skin-cracking dry.
So, if Weather Atlas is being used as a reference for some bit of information, that information needs to be double-checked against a better source, amended if need be, and the Weather Atlas citation removed. - Wikkiwonkk (talk) 00:24, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- it does not mention 91% humidity in january anywhere in the article as looking through the article also using control f,also i do not see a citation to the weather atlas. UnsungHistory (talk) 18:15, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, skin cracking dry inside I think. But averages can be deceiving. A few days of January thaw, yes it's a thing, can skew the average of the whole month. Also "relative" humidity is measured, I think in amount relative to the maximum at any given temperature. At cold temperatures it can not take in much humidity at all - therefore a little bit of it can seem big in relative scale. My opinion after moving here and experiencing the crazyness of Edmonton weahter. Just my opinion based on these last 13 years now. ~2026-32104-18 (talk) 22:16, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
- Also for example, this year or last we had a lot of actual thawing in January followed by a cold February, as far as I remember. I was surprised by the January thaw from the first time I encountered several years ago. Greetings, ~2026-32104-18 (talk) 22:31, 29 May 2026 (UTC)
