Where he was in 1911

I notice a citation to the 1911 Census. It would be useful if it could also mention under what area the relevant census form was filled in by/for him as it might help identify what team he was in at that time (which was post Bradford City).Cloptonson (talk) 05:28, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

A candidate for In From The Cold Project?

I have discovered while he was mentioned in "Soldiers Died In The Great War", which would be under the Manchester Regiment, I have found no male Clare Wilson, or a plain C Wilson who died on the day indicated, listed in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's database. I would encourage his being submitted to the In From The Cold Project for investigation that could lead to belated commemoration by those with a fuller possession of the facts. He does not appear in the Professional Football Association's Roll of Honour of professional players killed in the war. SDGW does mention the rank the soldier held at the time, it would be useful if that could be mentioned in this article in case he had been promoted in the meantime. (Officers had a separate "Officers Died..." list also published by the HMSO.) Clare Wilson's service would have qualified him for British War Medal and Victory Medal if he did not arrive at the front until 1916, is there a medal index card for the unusually named man?Cloptonson (talk) 05:35, 15 May 2025 (UTC)

Thank you, I have just messaged the project to check if he is not already known to them (ie someone not already working on his case for commemoration). If he had no known grave, he could be eligible for listing on one of the memorials to the missing that are in various sections of the Western Front area.Cloptonson (talk) 05:58, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

Mystery solved - Terry Denham of the IFCP has replied answering he is already CWGC-commemorated, with a grave in Tyne Cot Cemetery. (It was simply when I tried to google C Wilson for that date I did not get the player's details coming up in immediate response.)
