Removal of Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Rana Bhagwandas from Chief Justice list

April 3, 2009

Removing the names of Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Rana Bhagwandas from Chief Justice list as they were only acting Chief Justices and actual justice remained Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. In absence of Chief Justice in the country, acting chief justice are always appointed.

Dogar is the de facto chief justice.

Real Chief Justice of Pakistan

Wikipedia needs reference against your claim, and the best applicable reference in this case is the official site of Supreme Court of Pakistan, which states that Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar is the Chief Justice of Pakistan. --SMS ^Talk 16:39, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

How come this article is showing future CJs?

From quick online search, it appears this is based on

1) Article 179 of the Constitution of Pakistan, which indicates that members of the Pakistan Supreme Court must retire when they reach the age of 65, and

2) that based on the 1996 Supreme Court judgement in the Al-Jihad Trust case the oldest member of the supreme court is appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The list of future Chief Justices is therefore borderline WP:OR, as the order could be disrupted by nomination of older justices than current members, or resignation / death of current members of the supreme court.
